Dinner Table PC Build

Spudlet's PC is coming along. The workbench was occupied by Stitch's Evil Black Rifle (EBR) so the next handiest place to work on the new PC was the dinner table.

And here's a pic of the new motherboard:

And another of the case...again...

Specifications please. And is this truly Spudlet or is it Spudlette?

College Girl really is spudlet, although Spudlette seems classier. On to the machine...
ASUS A8N5X motherboard
ASUS EN6500 video card
512 Meg memory
AMD Athlon64 3200+ processor
DVD/CD burner
400 watt power supply.

The case is an Aspire X-Cruiser and seems flimsy to me. Nice design for kids...not for me. I'm about to build a PC for dad and will use a more sedate (and sturdy) case.

The machine sounds like it will be a good one. The one I built has an Athlon64 2600 in it and I think it performs every bit as good as the Sony with the Intel hyperthreading gobbledygook at 2800 units, whatever they are.

I think AMD and Intel have somewhat obfuscated the clocking of their chips. It's somewhat irrelevant for the machines that I build as I'm not into gaming. This is the first build I've done that doesn't have AGP. the PCI-E thing for video cards is new for me. This mobo I used has 10 USB ports and no 1394 ports...which is good in my view as I don't do any video stuff. Was thinking about using (for the first time) an Micro-ATX form factor mobo on Dad's PC as he doesn't give a poop about expandability. BTW, I'm starting to delve into the world of Insteon (as opposed to X-10). More later on this...
